Q. Which Federal agencies regulate food safety imports?

A. More than 12 federal agencies regulate food safety in the United States. However, four agencies play a major role in monitoring imports: the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Department of Commerce’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).
